It is truly a gift to connect with someone who becomes your significant other and joins you on your life journey. As your lives intertwine, a great amount of time is spent together which is a beautiful experience. However, it is also important both parties have ‘Me’ time, a space where you cultivate and nurture various components of your being.
Before you became a spouse (and parent), you had your own interests, activities, goals and dreams.
- Are you still nurturing these within your relationship?
- Are you maintaining and cultivating your friendships?
By maintaining a healthy ‘me’ space you keep the relationship fresh and alive because there is always something new to chat about and space is created when you are off doing your own thing (this creates the space to miss each other and look forward to the return). Additionally, ‘me space’ allows both parties the mental space to connect with self and nurture this relationship as well. The more time you spend with self, nurture this relationship and really begin to like who you are, you will transfer this energy into your ‘we’ space. Confidence and self-acceptance are two very attractive traits. © - Misha N. Granado
