Lemonade...Beautiful artistry & visuals...a range of emotions depicted throughout album...a human experience...one that is familiar to many perhaps at different degrees.
I've seen various commentary analyzing this project in attempts to decipher how much of Beyonce's personal life experiences are written within the lyrics. Although many speculate, the truth is only those involved know the truth which also has a version.
However, with any art it allows one to feel, relate, reflect, connect and perhaps realize we are not alone because others also share in these experiences ranging from despair to joy and everything in between. Although I do not know her personal story, I know many, unfortunately can relate to...
Abus:
The line about her father's hands around her mother's neck - perhaps your mom, aunt, sister, friend, niece, daughter, you, colleague intimately know this pain.
Not Good Enough:
Despite accomplishments, beauty, etc. questioning your worth, value, comparing self to another.
Betrayal:
Is so painful because it permeates one's sacred space, the place where vulnerability lives, the space where one trusts another to reveal self in totality. Therefore when this space is broken, a range of emotions (anger, hurt, revenge, sadness, etc) can be experienced due to feeling violated by the only person who knew the location and had the combination to this sacred space.
Hope:
After the pain & hurt experienced still believing in love and the power of forgiveness...wanting to reconcile by doing the work and re-building on the original foundation of love.
To live life publicly where others constantly analyze your every move has to be energetically draining. We are all on a journey and experience a full range of emotions and experiences but we have the luxury to learn, heal & grow privately and select what we share and with whom.
It takes courage to tell your truth. Whether this is her truth or not, it is someone's truth and by putting words and visuals to her art I am sure it is helping someone, somewhere somehow AND that's the beauty of art.
All Night, is my favorite song from her offering ☆
