Tip 6 of 8: Lessons - All of our experience are opportunities to learn more about self, life and love if we are willing to view them from a different perspective. Think about the wisdom you have, where did you get it from? Did someone give it to you or did you gain wisdom through your experiences? Of course there are some life experiences that are painful and hurt our emotional heart and in the mist of those emotions if feels as if it is the absolute worst experience. However, if you are like me this is not your first disappointment, heartache or emotional storm you have experienced. Take a moment to reflect on your historical markers, those past experiences where you thought ‘IT’ was the absolute worst, you could and would not make it through, yet you are here. This is proof you CAN heal ‘this’ space and come out on the other side stronger, wiser, more courageous with a deeper appreciation of self.
You have so much more within you and each of these experiences are opportunities to dig within and discover more. You are constantly evolving, growing, learning, being, becoming and ‘this’ is merely a catalyst. Of course, the beauty of being human and navigating your own path is you have the option to choose which ever perspective you desire. You can choose to view ‘this’ as your end, demise, the thing that takes you out and leaves you powerless. You can choose to give up. You can choose to stop believing in self, life, love and others. But then what?
Or you can choose to view this as an opportunity to become creative, to discover another level of self. This may be an opportunity to shed, let go, reorganize, restructure, strategize or in some cases to just be still and listen. ‘This’ may be the very catalyst to redirect your attention back to the internal, releasing the power of the external. This may serve as a bridge or catapult to send you to your next space. Ultimately, no one knows the purpose of your ‘this’ although many will have their theories. As you continue to make a conscious decision to identify the lessons from each experience, you strengthen the relationship with self. You begin to trust yourself more and your ability. You are more so much more than you know. – Misha N. Granado, MPH, MS
